The vessel shows performance racer/cruiser lines with a plumb stem, fine forward entry, moderate amidships beam carrying aft to an open transom stern fit with fold-down/nesting/ swim platform. The flush foredeck shows good camber and continues aft to a raised trunk cabin beginning forward of the mast and extending to the cockpit in the stern.

The vessel is fractional sloop rigged employing a single, deck step, two spreader silver anodized alloy spar. Folding frame canvas weather dodger and bimini protect the cockpit. Hull color is white with black stripe details, black bottom, white deck and superstructure, and tan canvas. Dufour 380 Grand is prominently displayed in bold lettering on either hull side in the forward quarters and across the transom. Dufour 380 Logos display on the hull and superstructure. Deleted SSR numbers show on the forward hull sides.

VESSEL USAGE

The subject vessel was originally designed as a performance cruiser and commissioned for the bareboat charter market in the Caribbean. The vessel presently campaigns in private service as a recreational cruiser used for daylight operations in the waters surrounding the Virgin Islands. The vessel is presently maintained at the dock system of Independent Boat Yard, Estate Frydenhoj, St Thomas, VI. The vessel is attended by professional maintenance staff during owner absences.

HULL CONSTRUCTION

Carvel molded, resin bonded, hand laid, fiberglass reinforced polyester laminate with gelcoat surfacing.

Frames: The hull is supported by a molded fiberglass hull liner grid system showing hat section longitudinal and transverse frames supporting the bottom with full length molded stringers supporting the hull sides. The drop in liner is bonded to the hull structure with mish/mash resin infused compounds providing support to the overall hull structure. The hull and deck show additional wrack support through the use of (4) transverse bulkheads constructed of marine grade plywood. Bulkheads are keyed and ring bonded to the fiberglass support grid and deck head.

Bottom: Displacement V configuration showing fine forward entry, fin type, bolt on, cast iron keel, soft chine sections and balanced spade type rudder.

Keel: Cast iron fin showing moderate draft. “Shields bulb” design, attached to the hull with stainless steel keel bolts.

Topsides: The topside surfaces show a plumb stem with fine forward entry tapering aft to moderate amidships beam showing minor tumble home and straight sheer line. The hefty beam carries well aft to an open transom stern fit with articulating swim platform doubling as a sea gate. The topside surfaces show the original factory molded gelcoat surface.

DECK CONSTRUCTION

– Electric Windlass with remote
– Plow Anchor w/New 100′ BBB Chain
– Six Person Life Raft

Deck and cabin trunk show integral molding in fiberglass reinforced plastic supported from below by bulkheads and cabinetry. The deck system shows factory-applied gelcoat surface showing adequate non-skid properties. The deck joins the hull at an inward turning hull flange showing chemical bonding and mechanical fastening at regular intervals, reinforced by an exterior teak toe rail.

Deck Layout: The foredeck stem head hosts a stainless steel anchor anchor roller and u bolt style chain plate for the head stay. Next aft shows a large deck access chain locker.

A low profile (Lewmar) horizontal electric anchor windlass is mounted in the chain locker. Mooring cleats are mounted outboard the anchor locker. Split stainless steel pulpit rails are fitted outboard. Comfortably wide walkways lead aft on either side of a raised trunk cabin which follows aft to the cockpit in the stern. The side decks are protected by stanchion mounted, stainless steel life lines terminating at welded stainless steel pulpits fore and aft. The life line system shows a stern gate at the transom.

The aft cockpit area shows molded longitudinal seating sections port and starboard forward with outboard helm seating following twin steering stations. The starboard steering station shows engine controls and monitors, navigation electronics, steering compass and destroyer wheel. The port station shows, compass and wheel. The starboard helm seat hosts a vented gas locker within.

The port helm seat hosts a swim shower fitting. The center section between the helm seats allows step down water access from the cockpit. The transom section shows an articulating swim platform fit with a nesting boarding ladder. Longitudinal seating forward of the helms shows deck gear storage lockers within. Seat sections and cockpit soles show traditional teak overlay. A folding wing table is positioned on the centerline. A folding frame, canvas bimini top protects the cockpit from the elements. A canvas weather dodger guards the companionway to the cabin spaces forward.

ACCOMMODATION SPACES

The vessel shows a typical three cabin, single head charter layout and is reasonably configured for live aboard cruising. The living spaces show access through a central companionway located forward in the cockpit.

Her Galley has beautiful Corian Countertops, Huge Top Access Refrigerator, Hot and Cold Pressured Water and a two Burner Propane Stove w/Oven.

Forward: The forward, master sleeping cabin, accessed through the main cabin, shows a double berth with storage under and surrounding, off set favoring the port side following the chain locker bulkhead.

Amidships: The full beam main saloon follows next aft hosting a C shaped upholstered settee to port with storage under and outboard, surrounding a dining table. An island style sliding settee is positioned on the centerline. The galley lies to starboard configured along the hull side opposite the dining saloon. The galley hosts a full set of over and under cabinets equipped with top loading refrigerator, gimbaled two burner stove with oven, and a stainless steel sink. A navigation station follows the galley arrangement on starboard at the base of the companionway. The Navigation station shows a forward facing chart table followed by a bench type seat. Ship electrical panels and communication electronics lie outboard above the navigation station.

Aft Cabins: Two double sleeping cabins are located port and starboard in the stern quarters abaft the companionway. The starboard shows a hanging locker forward at the entrance outboard. A double berth with storage surrounding follows. The port side shows a head area outboard at the base of the companionway abaft the dining area followed by a hanging locker outboard at the entrance to the sleeping cabin. A double berth showing shelf storage outboard completes the arrangement. The head area hosts a manual marine toilet, cabinet mount basin and separate shower. Machinery access lies beneath the cockpit through the companionway between the aft cabins.

RIGGING:
The vessel is fractional sloop rigged employing a single, extruded alloy, double spreader, anodized (US Spars) deck stepped mast fitted with alloy boom and semi rigid boom vang. The head sail fits to a (ProFurl) roller furling system. The mast is supported by continuous (1×19) stainless steel rope rigging showing mechanical end terminals. The standing rigging attaches to the hull through stainless steel cluster type chain plates fastened through the side decks. The chain plates deck tension rods mechanically fastened to molded stringers at the hull liner. Running rigging is all of Dacron double braid line which is properly sized to fit the deck hardware. Running rigging all leads aft to the cockpit to ease sail handling. Winches (4 Lewmar 40ST) show in serviceable condition and appear adequately sized for the weight of the vessel, well arranged for ease of sail handling.

Rig Condition: NEW. The mast, boom, rod kicker and furler were all replaced after the original rigging was destroyed during recent hurricanes. Standing rigging, running rigging and lifelines were also replaced after the storms. The mast stands in straight column properly tensioned. The mast step shows clean with no crushing or downward deflection noted. Chain plates show as clean and well fastened, below deck knees and tension rods are sound. Note: The rig was examined at deck level only during this attendance.
